Weight-loss Surgery Vs. Hiring a Health Coach

The last couple of months has felt like another pandemic. Several women reached out looking for lymphatic drainage massage after bariatric surgery, aka weight-loss surgery.

I was shocked when one of them said that a doctor prescribed her a medicine called Phentramine- a weight loss pill. This is a pill that contains SUGAR & CAFFEINE. Are you kidding me?

Answering her question I said- yes, I do Manual Lymphatic drainage to enhance lymphatic fluid flow, but I do not do any treatments before or after cosmetic surgery. I do manual lymphatic drainage to expedite healing post-emergency surgery to reduce inflammation and help reduce the appearance of old and new scars. I also help with detoxification to support organ health and exercise regimens.

Here are some things to consider that may be affecting your ability to lose weight.

  • Insulin resistance
  • Stress
  • Your mindset
  • Your metabolism
  • Your lifestyle habits.
  • Steady-state cardio

A combination of any of the above can make it a real struggle.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Bariatric surgery is done when dieting and exercising haven’t worked. And my question is why didn’t diet and exercise work in the first place?

After weight-loss surgery, it is possible to not lose enough weight or to regain it, and you will also have a greater risk of absorbing fewer nutrients- leading to malnutrition and vital vitamin deficiencies.

So, my question is still pending…

If changing your lifestyle (diet and exercise) did not work to avoid surgery what makes you think that after having surgery, you’ll have success following a healthy lifestyle?

After surgery, you’ll have restrictions on what and how much you eat.

Crash dieting or restricting calories will:

  • slow your metabolism.
  • disrupt hormones that control weight.
  • increase your risk of serious health conditions.

Your mind is the only thing that will be in your way, to succeed, with or without surgery.

Your mindset needs to be on the same track as where and who you want to be. Whatever you want to achieve in life- lose weight, be healthy, happy, change your career, or have an amazing relationship.

Ask yourself…Am I, and my mindset on the same page?

Mayo Clinic says that after weight-loss surgery you could lose half or even more of your excess weight within two years!!

Wow! That sounds like a great outcome!

As with any major procedure, they all come with potential health risks, including blood clots, long-term acid reflux, excessive bleeding, scar tissue, compromising your immune and lymphatic system, and even death.

So, would it be possible to spend those 2 years working on yourself by hiring a life/health coach that can help you out making long-lasting changes in your mindset and lifestyle?

Have you investigated the cost of this type of surgery?

The average cost of this type of surgery is an insane amount of $30,000. Wow! I could buy myself a nice boat or go on an amazing trip to the Seychelles Islands.

Hiring a health coach for a year is 1/3 of that, and the tools you’ll learn, and the results are long-lasting.

… If you had a way to lose weight slowly, but steadily and never gain it back? Being in control of your life, your mind, and your cravings, would you still choose surgery?

A life/health coach can help you shift your mind, find direction in your life, think clear, have more energy, and lose weight so you can enjoy life to the fullest and be in charge of your health and destiny.

Forget about willpower! – it will fail!

The food industry unfortunately plays a big role in keeping you hooked on their junk food and additives.

Your brain’s default mechanism is to keep you safe and in your comfort zone. Change is uncertain, and in your brain’s perspective is unsafe.

You must have a conversation with your brain to choose discomfort over comfort right now if you want to succeed, improve your health, and avoid surgery.

If you want to change your life, you must be ok being uncomfortable for a while…I promise it will be worth it!
